Nexum HQ earth cable
The Nexum HQ Earth Cables are engineered to provide an absolute, interference-free reference point for your audio equipment. In any high-end system, the Earth is the "zero-point" against which all musical signals are measured. While standard earthing wires often act as antennas for RFI, Nexum cables are designed to drain noise away while minimizing the impact of atmospheric interference.
The Foundation of Reference
It is a common misconception that an Earth cable only needs to be "thick" to function well. While low resistance is important, two other factors are crucial for a truly silent background: High-Frequency Conductivity and Total Shielding. The Nexum G-series addresses these through a sophisticated architecture that remains effective up to 12 GHz.
The Architecture
To translate the requirements of a precise earth reference into a physical cable, the Nexum G-series is built upon a balanced, multi-stage architecture. Every element, from the core conductor to the shield termination, is selected to maximize high-frequency drainage while minimizing the impact of environmental noise. By combining premium materials with our proprietary impedance-matching techniques, the Nexum HQ Earth provides a dedicated, low-impedance path that remains stable even in demanding electromagnetic environments.
1. Silver-Plated Solid Core Conductor
To ensure the lowest possible impedance for both low and high-frequency noise currents, the Nexum utilizes a high-purity, silver-plated solid core conductor. This ensures that noise artifacts are drained towards the Earth efficiently, lowering the noise floor and improving micro-dynamics.
2. Dual-Layer Fluoropolymer Insulation
Just like our power cables, the Earth series features high-grade PTFE (Teflon) insulation and a robust FEP outer jacket. This combination ensures high mechanical stability and minimal energy absorption, preserving the purity of the Earth reference.
3. Ultra High-Density Shielding
Since an Earth cable acts as a potential antenna for Electromagnetic Radiation (EMR), the Nexum is equipped with an exceptionally dense shield. This physical barrier provides maximum rejection of RFI/EMI before it can contaminate your system’s Earth plane, ensuring your reference point stays as quiet as possible.
4. Impedance Matched Shielding (IMS)™
To ensure a clean, reflection-free drainage of noise, the Nexum G-series incorporates our proprietary IMS™ technology. The high-density shield is left open at the device side to prevent the induction of external noise into the component. At the earth-source side, the shield is terminated through a precision-engineered "Floating Absorption Island". This IMS™ configuration uses an impedance-matched network to dissipate captured high-frequency energy, significantly reducing internal resonances and preventing the cable from acting as an active antenna.
Specifications & Customization
Our 1.5-meter architecture is meticulously tuned to ensure the IMS™ network operates at peak efficiency. This specific length provides the ideal balance between low DC-resistance and high-frequency noise absorption. While bespoke lengths are available for specific rack layouts, the 1.5m standard remains the technical reference for a silent earth-plane.

“Earth is the absolute reference”
In any high-fidelity system, the Earth acts as the "zero-point" against which all musical signals are measured. While the protective Earth from your mains outlet provides safety, it is often heavily polluted by high-frequency noise from modern household electronics. Using this as your primary reference inevitably masks delicate musical details.
To restore the purity of your soundstage, a dedicated, high-frequency drainage path is essential. Our Nexum HQ Earth cables, equipped with proprietary IMS™ (Impedance Matched Shielding), are engineered to drain this noise efficiently without allowing the cable to act as an antenna. When combined with the Sygnus Balanced Power Supply as a central star-earth point, this creates a stable, silent foundation that significantly lowers the noise floor.
Ordering Information
The Nexum HQ Earth is available in specific configurations meticulously tailored to their role within your system. To ensure the performance of the IMS™ (Impedance Matched Shielding) network, we maintain a standard optimized length of 1.5 meters.

Frequently Asked Question
Why do I need a dedicated Earth cable if my power cords are already earthed?
Standard power cords are designed for safety (50/60 Hz), but they are not optimized to drain high-frequency noise (MHz/GHz). In a modern home, the safety earth is often "polluted" by appliances and solar inverters. The Nexum HQ Earth creates a dedicated, high-conductivity path that specifically targets this high-frequency "hash," draining it away from your sensitive audio circuits to a clean Earth reference.
What is the difference between the G-150SB and the G-150BY models?
-
The G-150SB (EU power plug - Banana) is the "Master Link." It connects the Sygnus (or your central point) to a high-quality Earth source, such as a wall outlet. It features a European mains plug for the source side.
-
The G-150BY (Banana-Spade) is the "Component Link." It connects your individual audio components (turntable, DAC, amplifier) to the Central Earth point of the Sygnus.
Why is the IMS™ technology important for an Earth cable?
An Earth wire can easily act as an antenna for RFI (Radio Frequency Interference). Without shielding, you might accidentally "inject" noise into your system. Our IMS™ (Impedance Matched Shielding) uses a directional shield that captures this interference and dissipates it through a "Floating Absorption Island" before it can reach your audio components..
My component doesn't have a ground terminal. How can I connect it?
Many modern components lack a dedicated screw-type Earth terminal. In these cases, we offer Bespoke Services where we can terminate the Nexum HQ Earth with an RCA or XLR (pin 1) connector. This allows you to use an unused input or output on your device to establish a solid connection to the system's Central Earth..
Does the length of the Earth cable affect the sound?
Yes. Just like our power cables, the Nexum HQ Earth is tuned to a 1.5-meter architecture. This length is optimized to prevent internal resonances within the IMS™ network. Shorter is not always better in high-frequency drainage; the 1.5m standard ensures the cable remains stable and does not become an active part of the noise problem it is trying to solve.
