Nexum HQ power cables
The Nexum HQ Power Cables are the vital link between your mains supply and your passion for music. While standard cables often act as accidental antennas for atmospheric noise, Nexum cables are engineered to fundamentally lower your system’s noise floor.
The Foundation of Silence
A power cord is more than just a conductor of energy; it is a complex filter and a potential antenna. The Nexum architecture addresses the delicate balance between high-current delivery and total noise rejection through four innovative pillars:
1. High-Density Shielded Architecture
The foundation of every Nexum cable is the selection of a premium conductor protected by an exceptionally dense, high-coverage shield. This physical barrier is designed to block the vast majority of Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) and Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) before it can reach the power stream. By prioritizing maximum shielding coverage, the cable remains immune to the "electronic smog" caused by modern wireless devices and household appliances.
2. Advanced Dielectric & Mechanical Stability
To ensure lightning-fast transient response and minimal energy absorption, the Nexum utilizes high-grade PTFE (Teflon) insulation. This premium dielectricum is chosen for its superior electrical properties, ensuring the purity of the power delivery. Furthermore, the internal construction is optimized for mechanical stability, effectively dampening microphonic vibrations—subtle physical resonances that can impact the stability of the power transfer. This preserves the natural dynamics and "air" of the musical performance.
3. Core-Current Purification™
The primary defense against power-line noise. A specialized low-pass filter is integrated directly onto the central conductor of the cable. This in-line filtration is specifically engineered to attenuate high-frequency RF-pollution and "hash" present on the power grid. Unlike traditional filters that can choke a system's dynamics, the Nexum Core-Current Purifier is designed to dampen interference while maintaining the unrestricted current flow required by high-performance amplifiers
4. Impedance Matched Shielding (IMS)™
As a sophisticated finishing touch, Nexum utilizes Impedance Matched Shielding. To ensure that the high-density shield remains electrically silent, it is connected strictly at the source side. This directional shielding ensures that captured RF interference is drained back towards the mains supply, preventing it from reaching the sensitive power supplies of your audio components.
A precision-engineered module featuring a "Floating Absorption Island" terminates the shield at the plug. This module matches the cable’s characteristic impedance, preventing internal reflections and allowing any residual high-frequency energy to dissipate safely outside the primary current path.
Specifications & Customization
Every Nexum HQ Power Cable is engineered to an exacting standard. For direct connection to the mains supply, our 1.5-meter architecture is specifically optimized to achieve the ideal resonance balance for peak IMS™ performance. We recommend this standard length for the highest sonic fidelity in most AC applications.
However, when the Nexum is used in combination with the Sygnus Balanced Power Supply, the cable length plays a significantly less critical role. Due to the inherent noise-rejection characteristics of the Sygnus’s balanced AC architecture, we can provide custom lengths to suit your specific placement needs without compromising the signature Nexum transparency.
Whether you require a standard 1.5-meter cable or a tailored solution for your personal acoustic environment, each Nexum cable is hand-assembled to ensure a lossless energy transfer and seamless system integration.

“A power cord is a filter and an antenna”
Choosing the right power cables is very important for optimal sound reproduction. Power cables are intended for transferring energy, but they also have undesirable properties. They act as a filter and antenna. The choice of power cable therefore has a major influence on the quality of the sound reproduction.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is the standard length of the Nexum Power Cable 1.5 meters?
The 1.5-meter length is not an arbitrary choice. Our IMS™ (Impedance Matched Shielding) network is specifically tuned to this physical length to achieve optimal resonance control. This architecture ensures the best balance between low resistance and high-frequency noise absorption. While we offer custom lengths, the 1.5m standard remains our technical reference for peak performance.
Can I use the Nexum Power Cable with high-current amplifiers?
Yes. With a 0,7mm2 solid core, the Nexum is designed to handle high-current demands with ease. Unlike stranded cables that can suffer from "strand jumping" and dynamic compression, the solid core ensures a stable and instantaneous power delivery, even during deep orchestral peaks or heavy bass transients.
What makes the IMS™ technology different from a standard shielded cable?
A standard shield often acts as an antenna, picking up RFI and reflecting it back into the conductors. Our Impedance Matched Shielding (IMS)™ uses a directional approach where the shield is terminated at the source side through a "Floating Absorption Island." This allows the cable to dissipate captured high-frequency energy as heat, preventing noise from ever reaching your sensitive audio circuits.
Does the Nexum Power Cable require a "burn-in" period?
Like all high-performance audio components, the dielectric materials (PTFE/FEP) and the solid core conductors require some time to stabilize. While the cable will sound excellent out of the box, you can expect the soundstage to open up and the transients to become even more fluid after approximately 200 to 300 hours of use.
Is this cable compatible with the Sygnus Balanced Power Supply?
Absolutely. In fact, the Nexum Power Cable was developed alongside the Sygnus series. Using a Nexum cable to feed the Sygnus, and subsequently using Nexum cables for your source components, creates a fully synchronized low-noise environment where the IMS™ networks can work in harmony.
